The film stars Arjun, Manisha Koirala and Sushmita Sen. The film’s score and soundtrack are composed by AR Rahman. This film was a tremendous success at the box office and continued Shankar’s dream run. It won the Filmfare Best Tamil Film Award in the year of its release. The lead actor of Mudhalvan, Arjun has appeared a second time for Shankar in this movie after their debut vehicle Gentleman in 1993 was a runaway success. The hit song Shakalakka Baby by ARRahman went on to gain international acclaim appearing in Andrew Loyd Webber’s Bombay Dreams and Kelly Poon’s remakeFormer Miss Universe Sushmita Sen also makes a cameo appearance for the song.
